Biography

Norah Winters was a blonde haired woman who came to join the Daily Bugle as a reporter when it operated as The Front Line. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #575)

Ben Urich gave her the assignment to cover Osborn whilst he was in prison at the Raft. Whilst investigating, she came to learn that Norman had secretly been removed from the facility with her reporting this to Urich. (Osborn v1 #1)

She was present at the scene when many people in New York suddenly developed powers similar to Spider-Man with Norah looking to report on the event. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #668) By this point, she was noted to had broken up with Randy Robertson. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #670) Norah was in a relationship with Phil Urich by this point where she had covered stories on the new Hobgoblin but once she published the news she decided that he had become old news. Thus, she intended to delve into the secret legacy of Norman Osborn. Whilst at the Bugle, she saw a psychic image of Madame Web that was sending out a warning to Spider-Man of a coming danger. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #695) She was later targeted by a bat-drone from the Hobgoblin but was saved by Max Modell. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #697)

Afterwards, Phil Urich came to be exposed as the new Hobgoblin by Spider-Man where he attempted to take Norah hostage and threatened to kill her. She though managed to subdue him and broke up with him but he managed to escape the authorities. Afterwards, she Robbie Robertson came to fire Norah due to her association with Urich as a result of him profiting by the stories written on his criminal ventures. (Superior Spider-Man v1 #16)

In the aftermath, she moved to the West Coast where she came upon some new job opportunities and came back to New York City with her wanting to catch up with her old friends. Peter Parker invited her to a bowling session with his friends where she met her ex-boyfriend Randy Robertson. (Amazing Spider-Man v5 #3) By this point, she had formed an online news service called Threats and Menaces where the manufactured stories online in order to stir interest with her attempting to bring J. Jonah Jameson into the business. Ultimately, he refused as she was trying to do a story about how Spider-Man was a criminal over a sighting of him seemingly stealing from a bank. She intended to publish it online regardless of accuracy with Jameson not taking part as he was now determined that Spider-Man was a hero and attempted to prove his innocence instead. (Amazing Spider-Man v5 #38)

She later learnt of an attack by the Sin-Eater where the vigilante targeted the Lethal Legion who had attacked Empire State University. He seemingly stopped the criminals and killed them but all the supervillains revived from fatal shots via mystical means where they experienced nothing but guilt over their actions. They were all transferred to Ravencroft Institute with Norah wanting to interview them after the doctors noted that the patients had become completely harmless and showed no signs of violence. At first, her request for an interview was denied but Norman Osborn who headed the Institute now agreed to Winters meeting with Count Nefaria. Whilst there, she captured on video the villain being remorseful and horrified over his past actions that included the recent murder of innocent bystanders at E.S.U. (Amazing Spider-Man v5 #46) Upon going to her car, she was terrified to find the Sin-Eater there where in a panic she shot the serial killer who was unharmed due to his now supernatural nature. He revealed that he had met Norah in order to conduct an interview and show his side of events. Winters then came to showcase the interview leading to widespread popularity in the Sin-Eater who was seen as a hero for murdering supervillains. J. Jonah Jameson was opposed to publishing the interview but Norah instead believed that the public should decide on whether they believed the Sin-Eater or not. (Amazing Spider-Man v5 #47)

At Threats & Menaces, she came to meet the new hire Cindy Moon who had been brought in as a reporter by J. Jonah Jameson. (Silk v3 #1)
