As Claire prepares to shoot Peter, Nathan Petrelli arrives and flies Peter into the upper atmosphere, where the explosion occurs. (TV: "How To Stop An Exploding Man") Though there are no fatalities, Nathan is scorched by the blast and falls unconscious, but Peter catches him and delivers him to a hospital. Peter then turns invisible and tries to leave, but is attacked and apprehended outside by Company members Bob and Elle Bishop. As Hiro tries to convince them that he is innocent, a nuclear explosion occurs and begins to engulf the city, causing Hiro to panic and teleport back to his own time. (TV: "Don't Look Back") It is later revealed that the heroes were unable to stop the explosion in this timeline (though it is unclear how), so Peter exploded and destroyed most of New York City.
