Background
Operation Apocalypse was a final initiative made by Mason Eckhart to contain the New Mutant 'menace' in the event of his death. It involved numerous brainwashed sleeper agents who were tasked not with the containment of New Mutants but with their utter elimination as a species. It became active after his death and began to target New Mutants, one by one.
