The New 52

Following the Flashpoint, a new history was created with a different timeline of events.

After the death of Darkseid, his horde of Parademons left Apokolips and took a Mother Box with them as they sought a new master to guide them. This saw them target the greatest source of energy in the cosmos with this being Oa where they decimated the Green Lantern Corps. Once there, they attached their Mother Box to the Central Power Battery but the energy of willpower that it generated lacked direction. It required a sentient to wield it leading to the Parademons placing Green Lanterns inside it to become their god by accepting the machine. Each Green Lantern refused and were in turn transformed into a Parademon leaving only Hal Jordan the only Green Lantern that had not been converted in this manner as he sought to stop the creatures. (Justice League - Darkseid War: Green Lantern v1 #1)

Overview

Parademons were said to be the sentries of Apokolips. (New Gods v1 #1) They claimed that they were fast learners and were able to pick up languages after a short time. (Azrael v1 #34)

These soldiers of Darkseid were among the most fierce and most relentless in the universe. (Wonder Woman v2 #103)

  • Parademon :

Notes

  • Parademons were created by Jack Kirby where they made their first appearance in New Gods v1 #1 (March 1971).

In other media

Television

A Parademon from the DC Animated Universe.
  • In Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Parademons made appearances in a number of episodes. The episode "The Knights of Tomorrow!" had several alongside Kalibak as they pursued the Question on Apokolips after he uncovered Darkseid's plans to invade Earth. In "Darkseid's Descending", hordes of Parademons were part of the invasion forces that conquered Earth. In "The Siege of Starro", a Parademon made an appearance in the second part where it was one of the statues that represented one of the trophies kept by the Faceless Hunter.

Films

  • In Justice League: War, Parademon infiltrators were dispatched to Earth in order to prepare it for invasion by secretly placing Mother Boxes in order to create Boom Tubes to the planet. During the invasion, Victor Stone became the superhero Cyborg where his instinctive control of technology allowed him to a Mother Box and learn of the history of Apokolips. In that time, he learnt that many worlds had been invaded by Darkseid where their populations were kidnapped where their bodies were repurposed to become more Parademons. As such, Parademons did not kill people but instead sought to capture them and take them to Apokolips. Superman himself was captured and taken to Desaad for conversion into a Super-Parademon with this being the fate of the planet's other superheroes. However, the Parademons faced opposition from the heroes that would become the Justice League where Cyborg managed to reverse the Boom Tubes to send them back to Apokolips.
