Biography

Pei was a female inhabitant of the mystical realm of K'un-Lun. (Iron Fist: The Living Weapon v1 #2)

She was present when Shou-Lao the Undying was ready to die whereupon he dragon's chi would be used to empower the people of K'un-Lun in the cycle of death and rebirth. Pei came to sneak into the forbidden chambers to the egg that would bring about the dragon' rebirth where the Thunderer chided her for breaking their tradition. She was making preparations for the ceremony headed by the Yu-Ti that was her father the former Thunderer when both her and Pei were interrupted by Davos. Along with a contingent of warriors, he had intended to take over the city with the Sparrow urging Pei to run away. (Iron Fist: The Living Weapon v1 #2)

Arriving on Earth, she made her way to Rand Tower in order to find the Iron Fist Danny Rand where she arrived in the building but collapsed from the wounds caused by arrows that were fired into her body. (Iron Fist: The Living Weapon v1 #1) Examining Pei and finding her to be breathing and with a strong pulse, Danny had Brenda call 9-1-1. When Pei began repeating the word egg, Brenda thought that maybe the 'little Kung Fu girl' was hungry. (Iron Fist: The Living Weapon v1 #2) Pei was taken to the Marion M. Graham Hospital, accompanied by Brenda Swanson. When the hospital was beset by Terror Priests led by Davos and the daughters of the Crane Mother of K'un-Zi, both of whom had come seeking Pei and whom fought each other over her, Pei grabbed her backpack and fled, largely unseen amidst the ensuing chaos. Brenda spotted and followed Pei as she headed down a flight of stairs, trying to convince Pei to stay there where the police could protect her, but Pei argued that the police were no help. The wall suddenly shattered behind them and a she-spider-demon-thing emerged, seeking Pei. Hearing the creature's taunts and threats, Brenda asked Pei if she was right that this lady did not seem friendly, and Pei corrected Brenda that that was no lady.pei-kunlun-iftlw5-stance-gown. (Iron Fist: The Living Weapon v1 #3)

She was initially afraid of it and ran away, but when the dragon jumped at her and started licking her face, she realized it meant her no harm and nicknamed it "Gork", due to the sound it made. At that moment, Davos finally caught up with them and told her to kneel. (Iron Fist: The Living Weapon v1 #6)

During the battle, Pei herself was taken by the fungal plague and incorporated into the hive mind. This saw Moon Knight allowing himself to be infected so that he could enter into the collective consciousness sprouted by the organism. Spector had a nature talent to navigate the mind and through this he was able to find and free Pei from the creatures mental control even though her body was still taken by the fungus. He then battled the hive mind whilst Pei began to free the other captive heroes trapped inside. This act thus allowed them to escape the creatures control where collectively they helped in defeating the Urchin. The host was freed from parasite that was then contained by Reed Richards who kept it within his laboratory in a sealed container thus containing the danger posed by it. (Contagion v1 #5)
