Phil Coulson was a male human who was born in the modern age.

Whilst in the U.S. Army, he came to meet a fellow recruit named Marcus Johnson with the two being close friends. The pair came to be deployed in Afghanistan where they served together and fought the Taliban. The conflict escalated during the events of Fear Itself when the power of the Serpent affected the world. (Battle Scars v1 #1)

He was later brought into Director Johnsons Secret Avengers unit where he conducted the briefing of Hawkeye and the Black Widow Natasha Romanoff in order to recruit them into the covert-mission team. Personality and attributes

His friend Marcus Johnson gave him the nickname Cheese. (Battle Scars v1 #1) When working for the U.S. government, he came to be known as the Agent. (Avengers v8 #10)

However, his personality seemingly suffered a large shift as a result of his death as he came to despise superheroes. He concluded that his idol worship of them had been in vain and that they had done more damage to the world. Thus, he came to consider the likes of Iron Man as a jerk and Captain America a traitor with him working with the U.S. government in combating them. (Avengers v8 #11)

Coulson's best friend was Marcus Johnson with the two having served together in the military. (Battle Scars v1 #1)

Powers and abilities
