Planet Namek was ravaged by storms centuries ago, resulting in a Namekian later known as Kami being sent to Earth. In general, the planet was peaceful, until the invasion of Frieza. The Namekians were forced to evacuate to Earth, as the planet was destroyed by Frieza's actions during his battle with Goku.
