Randomiser

The Randomiser was a device the Fourth Doctor attached to his TARDIS' navigational console, after the Key to Time quest. To prevent the Black Guardian from pursuing them for his revenge, the Randomiser brought the TARDIS to a random location in space and time on each trip. Since the Doctor was able to steer the TARDIS on some future occasions, one presumes he removed the Randomiser at a later date.
