Rodimus Prime is the successor to Optimus Prime as leader of the Autobots in many of the Transformers universes.

U.S. Animated

Originally Hot Rod, he was empowered in 2005 by the Autobot Matrix of Leadership within Unicron, enabling him to defeat Galvatron and destroy Unicron. However, although he believed in a new era of peace- leading the Autobots to retake Cybertron and drive the Decepticons off-world- by 2006 he was already wracked with self-doubt over his ability to lead.

As time went on, Rodimus became more confident. While still uncomfortable with his burden, he brought a more radical, less predictable style to leadership after the resurgence of Galvatron. Despite that, on a few occasions, he was almost eager to relinquish the Matrix and become Hot Rod again, only taking it back after realizing it was his responsibility. Then, Optimus Prime's body was retrieved by human scientists, and the Hate Plague broke out, infecting Rodimus. A revived Optimus defeated the maddened Rodimus, taking the Matrix back and bringing Hot Rod back for good.

Marvel U.S.

In an alternate 2005, he was originally Hot Rod, empowered by the Creation Matrix within Unicron. However, a Galvatron loyal to Unicron was able to destroy Rodimus Prime, and claimed Earth as his domain. All that was left of Rodimus was his corpse, strung up between two buildings for Galvatron to rant at and attack.

Marvel U.K.

In the "real" 2006, Rodimus was able to defeat the treacherous Galvatron and destroy Unicron. Although inexperienced, Rodimus became a worthy successor to Prime, battling such threats as Galvatron (in the past) and multiple attempts by Unicron to revive himself. Rodimus trapped Unicron's essence within the Matrix, which contained but did not stop the Chaos-Bringer's evil- at one point, he was even possessed by Unicron. Hundreds of years later, the strain on Rodimus was obvious- he was frail, and looked aged- but he continued to lead the Autobots.

Dreamwave

Little is known about him, save that he was once Hot Rod and succeeds Optimus Prime as Autobot leader.
