Biography

Aubrey Sparks

However, J'onn refused to go any further stating that the treatment to help him ignore his fear of fire failed and that he could not heal the damaged mind of Aubrey. This led to Scorch being angry and she argued with him leading to her along with the Martian Manhunter embracing each other as they kissed. (JLA v1 #82)

With the city on fire, Fernus intended to use the energy in order to spawn more of his kind with the Justice League engaging him but unable to stop him. At that point, Scorch entered into the fight where she used her powers to draw all the flames to her. This led to Fernus being enraged where in his anger he struck a bolt at Scorch that sent her into a coma with this leading to J'onn fighting through the Burning to be freed to stop the creature. The Martian Manhunter was able to defeat Fernus and reabsorb the creature into his being whereupon he along with the Justice League helped repair the damage made to the world. Scorch by this point remained in a death-like coma where it appeared that she was not expected to recover as the Martian Manhunter came to mourn her. (JLA v1 #89)
