History

Origin

Sera was a habitable world located in the universe that came to be populated by humans.

During this time, a substance discovered known as Imulsion was discovered from oil-exploration drilling. Initially, it was an unusable resource until Dr. Helen Cooper developed the Lightmass Process that was able to refine the low-viscosity fluid into a cheap source of energy. This triggered a Gold Rush among nations looking to find, mine and exploit it thus triggering a 79 year long period of global conflict known as the Pendulum Wars. This saw the Coalition of Ordered Governments waging war against the Union of Independent Republics over Imulsion supplies.

In this time, exposure to Imulsion vapors caused individuals to suffer from a fatal condition called Rustlung with efforts being made to find a cure. This saw secret experiments being made at creating individuals immune to Imulsion exposure with this creating a young girl named Myrrah. From her, further covert experiments were made creating mutated hybrid organisms that were initially the Sires with the results of this research leading to the creation of the first Locust. Following a period of study, the Locusts broken free from the research facility studying them and rallied under Myrrah as their Queen where they fled underground into the Hollow where over time they developed their own civilisation.
