Skaar in Skaar: King of the Savage Land v1 #1.

Skaar was the child of the Hulk and Caiera the Oldstrong with the pair conceiving their son during the Hulk's time on the planet Sakaar. (Skaar: Son of Hulk v1 #1) He also had a twin brother who became known as Hiro-Kala with the two being in their mothers womb until the cataclysm that affected their homeworld. The twins were born but separated from one another during the blast due to the unique aspect of their biology. (Incredible Hulks v1 #612) Following Caiera's death, the Hulk departed Sakaar as he sought revenge against those that had banished him from his homeworld of Earth. In that time, Skaar had emerged from a cocoon where he was the age equivalent of a human being in their pre-teen years. After a year, he began to resemble a teenager and in time he became an intelligent adult. It was during these years that he began to demonstrate his skill as a fierce and capable warrior where he became enemies of Axeman Bone. He later gained the power of the Oldstrong stone-like power that allowed him to draw on power from Sakaar itself and was seen by his world's people as a saviour. (Skaar: Son of Hulk v1 #1) Skaar also began to show the power to communicate with his deceased mother's spirit but she became troubled by him becoming a killer instead of a bringer of peace for her people. (Skaar: Son of Hulk v1 #3)

After gaining the power, he indulged its use against his enemies where he threatened to kill his foes on the other side of the planet with the Old Power. It was then that he was attacked by the Silver Surfer who sought to stop him. Their battle saw the Surfer use the Power Cosmic to strip Skaar of the Old Power and bury it within Sakaar. Weakened, he had no choice but to return to his master Galactus thus notifying him of the planet Sakaar which he would consume and sate his hunger for thousands of years. Before he could depart, Skaar had a Death Head Guard implant an obedience disk on him thus leaving him enslaved to the Son of Hulk. (Skaar: Son of Hulk v1 #7)

Whilst in the Savage Land, he was approached by the Hulk who had a new personality called Doc Green. This version sought to purge the world of all gamma-weapons and was on a mission to depower all the Hulks. This led to a fight with Skaar but ultimately Doc Green injected him with a serum that removed the gamma component in his DNA thus turning him human. He provided Skaar with money and left him in Paris in the belief that he would make a new life for himself. (Hulk v3 #7) In the aftermath, he made his way to Southern France where he took up the name of Santos by the Pyrenees Mountains and lived as a hunter. During the events of Civil War II, he came to learn of the death of his father and was deeply saddened by the news. Skaar was approached by the Warbound who provide him with solace as they all shared in the grief over the death of the Hulk. He later attended the reading of Bruce Banner's will where a holographic recording showed that he had created blueprints that would allow Skaar along with the Warbound to board the Sakaaran stoneship in case they wanted to leave Earth. (Civil War II: The Fallen v1 #1)
