Supernova (Michael Jon Carter)

Michael Jon Carter was a male human and an inhabitant of the 25th century. He would steal an advanced power suit and travel to the 20th century where he came to operate as the superhero Booster Gold. During his career, he was contacted by Rip Hunter in secret over concerns about Michael's robot companion Skeets who was believed to be a threat to the world. Asking for Booster Gold's aid, the pair worked in secret with Michael gathering special equipment that Rip Hunter used to create the Supernova suit that was to contain an arsenal of weapons for the confrontation against Skeets. Using Kandorian superscience, it was developed whereupon time travel was used to make Michael Carter wear it with him operating in secret as Supernova. (52 v1 #37)

Supernova (Daniel Carter)

Daniel Carter was a male human who existed within the 21st century where he was a former high school football superstar who had permanently injured his knee thus ending his career. Mister Mind finds him and manipulates him, eventually trapping him in the timestream before he is rescued by Rip Hunter, who defeats Mister Mind at the climax of the 52 series. While Daniel and Booster are aware of their relation to each other, however, Rip Hunter intentionally keeps his family connection to the Carters in the dark. Daniel Carter uses the Supernova suit for a time to start a superhero career of his own, but also puts it to use for long sprees of playing video games, as the suit's wearer was frozen in time which meant he did not need to eat, drink, sleep, or use the restroom. Supernova (Jonar Carter)

Jonar Carter was a male human who was an inhabitant of the 25th century where he was the father of Michael Carter and Michelle Carter.

Travelling to the 21st century, he as responsible for ambushing Daniel Carter and stealing the Supernova suit for himself. (Booster Gold v2 #4)

Overview

The uniform was built to be impervious to the ravages of the time stream. It was noted to freeze time for the wearer thus preventing them from getting tired, feeling hungry or thirsty. (Booster Gold v2 #1) For power, the suit possessed chronal energy cells though these could be burnt out. (Booster Gold v2 #4)

The Supernova suit was equipped with a Phantom Zone Projector, a White Dwarf size-changing belt and was able to emit laser beams that could cut through steel. (Booster Gold v2 #1) The Phantom Zone Projector allowed anyone struck by it to be teleported into that prison dimension. (52 v1 #37)

  • The concept of Supernova was created by Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid and Keith Giffen where it made its first appearance in 52 v1 #8 (August, 2006).
