Her co-pilots included Zip and Spec who made contact with the source with Valentina sent to gather a sample. She became ageless as a result but her comrades Zip and Spec were killed when they became infested by a plant spore that took up residence in their bodies and relived their memories constantly. Vostok determined that the spore would die in a planet's atmosphere and decided to return to Earth in order to allow her comrades to die and give them a proper funeral. During this time, she met Larry Trainor at the Chief's mansion where she imparted her experience on coming to terms with his negative spirit. She also offered for him to join her in travelling through space once she finished severing her ties to Earth but he declined as he wanted to repair the relationship with his family.
