History
Vortigaunts were an intelligent extradimensional species that were one of the sentient races that inhabited the dimension of Xen. At some point, they came to be enslaved by a being known as Nihilanth who itself was a slave to unknown masters.
Overview
In appearance, Vortigaunts (Xenotherium subservilia or "Subservient Alien Beast") were a vaguely humanoid race with two arms and legs with a third arm that protruded from their chest.
The species had their own unique method of vocal communication that was called 'flux shifting' that involved both speakers vocalising at the same time. This could not be understood by other races that lacked the auditory anatomy to interpret these sounds.
