Xanthu is a planet that features in DC Comics.

History

Pre-Crisis

Xanthu

In the distant future, an inhabitant of the planet Xanthu by the name of Thom Kallor was exposed to radiation from a comet when his spacecraft passed near it with this giving him superhuman abilities whereupon he became the superhero called Starboy. He later joined the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 30th century where one of his mission was to travel back in time to modern age Earth to apprehend a criminal from Xanthu who had arrived in a time-ship. Post-Crisis

Overview

Diamonds were common on the world which was why the inhabitants never used them for jewellery. (Adventure Comics v1 #282)

Locations on the planet included:

  • Jungle Mountains : a region situated in the south of the planet. (Adventure Comics v1 #282)

Creatures native to Xanthu included:

  • Parakat : a rare animal of the tiger family native to the jungle mountains of the south where they possessed bird-like beaks on a feline body with them capable of imitating speech. (Adventure Comics v1 #282)

It was said to be a world of super-science with knowledge far greater than 20th century Earth. (Adventure Comics v1 #282)

Inhabitants

  • Thom Kallor : a dark haired male who gained superhuman abilities after exposure to a comet's radiation whereupon he became the superhero Starboy in the 30th century. (Adventure Comics v1 #282)
  • Zynthia : a female inhabitant with short blonde hair native to the 30th century who was the one-time girlfriend of Thom Kallor. (Adventure Comics v1 #282)
