Biography

Yoda was a diminutive green-skinned male extraterrestrial Force-sensitive who lived a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Many centuries ago, he came to join the ranks of the Jedi and became part of the Jedi Order.

At some point, he was noted to had taken on Count Dooku who became his Padawan until he eventually passed his training.

As Grand Master of the Jedi Council, he came to confer with other legendary Jedi Masters such as Mace Windu and Ki-Adi-Mundi on matters important to the Republic. Among these included a trade dispute involving the Trade Federation an the world of Naboo. To settle the matter, the Jedi Order dispatched master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The pair later returned with Queen Padmé Amidala and her entourage who revealed to the Galactic Senate that the Trade Federation had conducted an illegal blockade and invasion of her world. Meanwhile, Master Qui-Gonn Jinn came before the Jedi Council that during his return he was confronted by a dark warrior who he believed was a Sith Lord. In addition, on Tatooine he encountered a vergence in the Force that took the form of slave boy named Anakin Skywalker who Qui-Gon had freed. The Jedi Master believed that Anakin was the prophesised Chosen One who would bring balance to the Force and wanted him instructed in the ways of the Jedi. Yoda became intrigued at this development and agreed to evaluate the child where he was brought before the Council who conducted their tests as they sensed his feelings through their questions. Grand Master Yoda though came to sense much fear in the boy and believed that this was a path that could lead to one falling to the Dark Side. Ultimately, the Jedi Council came to reject taking on the boy much to the shock of Qui-Gon Jinn though he was adamant in training the child even if he had to do it alone. Afterwards, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan both returned to Naboo to help free the world from the blockade. This resulted in Qui-Gon Jinn's death at the hands of the Sith Lord Darth Maul though the Dark Side assassin was seemingly killed in turn by Kenobi with the planet freed from the Trade Federation. Afterwards, the Jedi Council agreed to re-evaluate their decision and decided to allow Anakin Skywalker to be taken as a Padawan whose training would be overseen by Obi-Wan Kenobi. In addition, concerns were raised over the long extinct Sith with Yoda commenting that the Dark Side order always consisted of two members with one being the master and the other the apprentice. Thus, they feared that the long-extinct Sith were perhaps still active somewhere in the galaxy.

Afterwards, chaos affected galactic politics as a Separatist movement had formed and was seemingly led by Yoda's former Padawan Count Dooku. The growing political bloc sought independence from the Galactic Republic bringing a period of unrest. Around this time, Obi-Wan Kenobi had embarked on a mystery regarding the planet Kamino that had been seemingly erased from the Jedi Archives where he consulted master Yoda during a lightsabre training session with younglings. This development came to trouble Yoda with Obi-Wan able to ultimately uncover the world only to find that a massive army of Clone Troopers had been raised to fight for the Republic with the order seemingly having been made by the Jedi Council. It was then that open conflict erupted when the Separatists had gathered on the world of Geonosis to formally declare the formation of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. However, the Grand Army of the Republic were deployed against this new enemy whilst Master Yoda went to confront his former Padawan. A duel erupted between him and Count Dooku who had fallen to the Dark Side and joined the Sith. During their fight, Dooku created a distraction that forced Yoda to save Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker whilst the Count escaped the planet. It was then that the galaxy was embroiled in a new era of conflict as it suffered during the Clone Wars.

After his death, his lightsabre remained in the possession of his student Luke Skywalker who many years later attempted to rebuild the Jedi Order. During this time, Skywalker looked to take on a new student named Grogu who was of the same species as Yoda. He offered the youth Yoda's lightsabre if he intended to follow the path of the Jedi though Grogu would instead join his travelling companion Din Djarin.
