Unable to continue the journey in the storm, he found a cave and decided to take shelter in it until it broke with him keeping the unconscious Avatar there. He remained there for sometime until Aang regained consciousness where he used his powers to free himself. In a battle with Zuko, he managed to knock the firebender unconscious just as Appa and the others arrived to rescue the Avatar. Aang decided to not leave Zuko in the snow alone as he would die and decided to take him back to the Northern Water Tribe's palace with him being tied up in the process. Zuko managed to regain consciousness and freed himself as the Avatar battled Zhao as they sought to protect the Moon Spirit from the Fire Nation Admiral. Zhao ended up killing the Moon Spirit thus causing the moon itself to vanish which began to cause disasters across the planet. Zuko pursued the fleeing Zhao where he confronted the Admiral over the assassination attempt. Admiral Zhao revealed that he knew that the Blue Spirit was Zuko and intended to eliminate him in their fight. This was interrupted when the Ocean Spirit manifested from the waters and grabbed Zhao and started to pull him into the depths. Zuko attempted to save the Admiral's life but Zhao refused and allowed himself to be claimed by the waters instead. (Episode: The Siege of the North, Part 2)

Biography

Prince Zuko (祖寇 Zǔ Kòu) was the son of Fire Lord Ozai and Princess Ursa with him having a younger sister named Azula.

One day, the thirteen-year old Zuko wanted to attend a strategy meeting amongst the leaders of the Fire Nation. At first, Iroh attempted to discourage the boy from attending but he said that as a prince he had a duty to attend these events. His uncle Iroh reluctantly agreed to let the boy attend but told him to remain silent during the meeting. Whilst there, Prince Zuko overheard a general sending a division of recruits against the Earth Kingdom forces so that their deaths would serve as a distraction to allow their elite forces to flank the enemy. This strategy horrified Zuko who believed that it was foolish to sacrifice loyal Fire Nation soldiers in such a move. The interruption caused by the prince was seen to had been a grave dishonour with Zuko being challenged to an Agni Kai as a result. The Prince gladly accepted as he believed h was going to fight against the General that suggested the strategy. Whilst at the duel, Zuko was shocked to find that his opponent was actually the Firelord Ozai as he claimed that the interruption within his court was an insult to him. The Prince begged his fathers forgiveness and refused to fight him but all this did was anger his father more as he saw it as a further sign of dishonour. Thus, he decided that pain would be Zuko's teacher and he left a burnt wound around his eye as a punishment as well as reminder of his actions. The incident also led to Zuko being banished from the Fire Nation and instead dispatched to find the Avatar where his recovery of his quarry would be the only means for his return to the kingdom. (Episode: The Storm)

Their vessel later was by the territory of the Southern Water Tribe when they saw some unusual activity in the sky with Zuko convinced that this was the Avatar's return. (Episode: The Boy in the Iceberg) Closing the distance, he found signs that his quarry was at a nearby village with Zuko's ship arriving at the site.
