Biography

Prince Zuko (祖寇 Zǔ Kòu) was the son of Fire Lord Ozai and Princess Ursa with him having a younger sister named Azula.

Their vessel later was by the territory of the Southern Water Tribe when they saw some unusual activity in the sky with Zuko convinced that this was the Avatar's return. (Episode: The Boy in the Iceberg) Closing the distance, he found signs that his quarry was at a nearby village with Zuko's ship arriving at the site. He then demanded to see the Avatar and was surprised to find out that the person was a young boy named Aang. After an initial confrontation, the Prince failed to capture the airbender but forced his surrender by threatening the villagers. Thus, Aang surrendered himself willingly and boarded the Fire Nation ship as it set sail for the homeland. Taken toa cell, Aang managed to escape with his airbending skills and looked to claim his staff that was in the possession of Zuko leading to a battle between the pair. The fight erupted on the top deck where Aang was saved by the intervention of Sokka and Katara where they helped him flee on the flying bison Appa. During the fight, Aang briefly entered the Avatar state where he ended up badly damaging the Fire Nation. (Episode: The Avatar Returns) Returning to port for repairs, Zuko intended to keep his findings hidden when he met with Commander Zhao who was curious onto the damage to their ship. The commander asked the two to meet him for tea and for them to have a discussion about the Prince's activities with Zuko reluctantly accepting the offer. This, however, was only used as a distraction as Zhao had his men interrogate the crew of Zuko's ship who revealed that the Prince had found the Avatar. Zhao then decided to claim this find for himself and intended to have the Prince detained but Zuko challenged him to Agni Kai. Despite Zhao's skill, Zuko managed to defeat him but rather than kill his foe he decided to spare his life. The Commander then attempted to wound Zuko when his back was turned but Iroh intercepted his strike whereupon the Prince and his uncle departed for their ship to continue their search. (Episode: The Southern Air Temple)
