After Jon Canmore went on the run, he approached the Illuminati Society, and through them changed his name and identity to John Castaway. Forming an anti-gargoyle organization called the Quarrymen, Castaway played upon the fears of ordinary citizens, getting them to join the Quarrymen, and vowing to continue the Hunt.
As the sole symbol of his true identity, John Castaway wore a Quarryman uniform bearing the three scars of the Hunter behind his Quarryman insignia.

Castaway's legacy would indeed live on, as by the year 2198, his descendants the Castaways would still be leading the Quarrymen.
