Alpha, alias the Experimental Man, was an artifically created "ultra-human" who destroyed himself when he realized he was a menace.

The Earth to which he is native is uncertain. A character with the same name also appeared during Jack Kirby's run on Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen, and a third incarnation appeared post-Crisis.
