Brian Irons
Chief Brian Irons was the chief of the Raccoon Police Dept., an extremely corrupt and mentally unstable man who was secretly on the payroll of the Umbrella Corporation. His high seat on the political food chain in Raccoon City allowed him to help make sure that the hidden research laboratories of Umbrella (one of which existed below the streets of the city itself) would stay hidden. It was Irons who, on Umbrella's order, disbanded the S.T.A.R.S. following their involvement in the destruction of the Spencer Mansion.
When the T-Virus inevitably escaped as a result of Umbrella's reckless attempt to steal the G-Virus from William Birkin, Irons began to feel that the company had betrayed him by destroying his “beautiful town,” and following the siege of the RPD by zombies, he locked himself in his office. He became trapped there when a helicopter crashed into the building, rendering his office door unopenable. Irons was freed by Claire Redfield, who found her way down into the chief's secret “hobby room” where he practiced taxidermy. Thinking her a spy sent by Umbrella, the paranoid Irons attempted to shoot her, but not before launching into a lengthy expositive rant about the G-Virus.
Comments
In the Claire Scenario B of Resident Evil 2, Irons dies by getting pulled into the sewer and torn in half by the mutated William Birkin. He also dies this way in City of The Dead, and in the Wildstorm/DC Comics adaption A New Chapter of Evil. However, in Claire Scenario A, Irons dies instead when Birkin implants him with a G-Embryo that bursts from his chest, much in the manner of Ben Bertolucci.
