[[Image:indominus2.jpg|thumb|289px|The Indominus rex.]] '''Indominus rex''' was a hybrid dinosaur engineered for [[Jurassic World]] by [[Henry Wu]] and the scientists at the [[Innovation Center]]'s [[Hammond Creation Lab]]. Though a hybrid organism, Indominus Rex was not bred through mating but was in fact genetically designed and built. She was an entirely new species of dinosaur that contained genetic material from a wide variety of sources. As a result of this trait, the creature could actually hide herself from thermal imaging systems and thus appear invisible on them. She also had the ability to camouflage her skin allowing her to mask herself into her surroundings. This served as a useful trait to ambush victims by appearing as the native vegetation. Beyond these natural traits, the species was shown as being quite intelligent with the single known specimen remembering where a tracking implant had been put on her and tearing that part of her flesh off. The Indominus rex was kept in [[Paddock 11]], a fortress-like enclosure that wasn't open to visitors. There, she was overseen from a high-tech control room by Jurassic World employees. [[Simon Masrani]] expressed concern about Paddock 11's integrity and so assigned [[Claire Dearing]] to have Jurassic World's head animal trainer [[Owen Grady]], a man used to dealing with large predators, assess the paddock's security measures to see if it was safe for visitors to come and see the hybrid. When Owen arrived however there was no sign of Indominus. Assuming she'd escaped, he entered the enclosure along with Paddock 11's supervisor [[Nick]] and worker [[Ellis]]. The three were ambushed by Indominus, who ate Ellis. Nick opened the back door to escape, and Indominus chased Owen through it before it could be shut remotely from the control room by [[Lowery Cruthers]]. Once free, Indominus sniffed out the hiding Nick and ate him, and would've done the same to Owen had he not doused himself in gasoline to mask his scent. Unable to smell him, the hybrid wandered off. [[ACU]] was ordered to find and recapture her, but to use non-lethal weapons because of how valuable she was. She clawed out her tracking implant and left it as bait for the ACU to find, and then attacked them, killing [[Katashi Hamada|Commander Hamada]] by crushing him underfoot. The rest of the team was quickly slaughtered as well. After this, Masrani finally decided that Indominus rex ''had'' to be killed, and so he had his private helicopter outfitted with a machine gun to hunt her from the air. This however failed, and the helicopter crashed into the aviary, freeing hundreds of [[Pteranodon|Pteranodons]] and [[Dimorphodon|Dimorphodons]] to wreak havoc on the park. The Indominus also endangered the lives of Claire Dearing's nephews [[Gray Mitchell|Gray]] and [[Zach Mitchell|Zach]], attempting to swallow them in their gyrosphere vehicle, but Zach was able to open the escape hatch, allowing him and his brother to escape. Although Indominus chased them, the two escaped by leaping over a waterfall. [[Vic Hoskins]] hatched a plan to used Owen's trained [[Velociraptor|Velociraptors]] [[Blue]], [[Delta]], [[Echo]] and [[Charlie (Jurassic Park)|Charlie]] to hunt and kill Indominus. Owen objected, but Hoskins overruled him. Unfortunately, since Velociraptor DNA was part of Indominus' genetic makeup, she could communicate with the four raptors, and established herself as their new alpha, getting them to turn against their human allies, killing many [[InGen Security Division]] personnel. Charlie also died, when an InGen Security trooper blew her up with a rocket launcher. Indominus pursued Owen, Claire, Gray and Zach to the Visitor's Center, where she cornered them. The three remaining raptors appeared, but Owen was able to convince them to accept him as their alpha once more, and they attacked Indominus. She threw Blue against the wall, seemingly killing her, and then also killed Delta and Echo. At the suggestion of Gray, Claire ordered Lowery Cruthers to open the [[Tyrannosaurus rex]] enclosure, unleashing the T-rex. Using a flare, she led the T-rex to where Indominus was over by the [[Mosasaurus]] lagoon, and the two dinosaurs began fighting. A revived Blue joined in and helped the Tyrannosaurus in attacking the hybrid that had killed her packmates. Indominus, on the defensive, backed up against the observation railing overlooking the lagoon. Before the battle could continue, the Mosasaurus erupted from underneath the water, seizing Indominus in its jaws, and dragged her underwater to her death.
