It was advertised as the future of private corporate security that would be available for manufacture and licensing by Q3 of the fiscal year. They could then be dispatched and deployed to hot zones around the world. [[Sasha Hammer]] came to present her new creation to the U.S. military. (Invincible Iron Man v2 #25) Afterwards, Detroit Steel assisted Iron Man during his fight with Mokk, Breaker of Faith in Paris. Starks tells Johnson to leave but the hotheaded mech-pilot pours on the assault with artillery fire. Mokk gets close enough to rip through Detroit Steel's armor and turn Johnson into stone. His death allowed Iron Man the opportunity to get in close and slice off the top portion of Mokk's head with an energy saber. Through he died from this transformation, Odin's powers allowed all those who died to the Serpent's avatars to be resurrected, which brought back Johnson in turn, through no one at the time was any wiser of his status. Johnson, stranded in Paris after his revival, was considered KIA by the military and the general public, and as such, a new Detroit Steel was required to replace him: Sasha Hammer was selected as his replacement, and modified the Detroit Steel suit in conjunction to her biological upgrades given by Ezekiel Stane. Through difficult, Johnson was eventually able to return to the US covertly, and stalked Sasha for days on end, recording her movements and remaining unseen. After a while, he assaulted and took her as a hostage, angrily stating he was no longer Doug Johnson, but rather, the one and only Detroit Steel, and demanded that the suit be given to himself in exchange for Sasha's freedom. Sasha agreed with this deal, and managed to obtain the Detroit Steel for Johnson to use. However, as she had been in control of the suit for weeks on end, she also understood the internal controls of it, and planned to use the self destruct command to destroy the suit and Johnson at the same time when he went inside the mech. Of course, Johnson had foreseen this, and had hacked the interface of the suit days before the encounter which meant that this plan failed. With this plan going unsuccessful, Johnson now had full control of the Detroit Steel suit again, and started to fight Sasha and her Hammer reinforcements in a prolonged fight while within the suit, but was finally killed after Sasha sliced the head off the suit while Johnson was within the suit, decapitating him instantly. ==Overview== In appearance, the Detroit Steel armor was a large humanoid suit of power armor developed through the most bleeding-edge research in man/machine spinal hybrid mechanics. The armor weighed 4 and a half tons where it was locked and loaded with cutting edge warfare technology. It was equipped with offensive armaments for hot-zone deployments as well as hostile encounters and defensive measures to ensure the safety of assets ensuring total security. (Invincible Iron Man v2 #25) They were capable of flight whilst being armed with a rotary cannon mounted on the right arm, and a specialized chainsaw on the left. Rocket-powered munitions were shown to be located on the suit's shoulders. (Invincible Iron Man v2 #25) Among the technology in the mechs included C.N.S. (Controlled Exo-Enhanciles) that would eventually be used to end paralysis caused by cervical, thoracic or corticospinal injuries. Pilots seemingly underwent considerable surgical modifications that left implants visible on their chests. (Invincible Iron Man v2 #25) There were various custom models of Detroit Steel that were produced including arctic, high velocity, high casualty, and even mobile models for urban environments. (Invincible Iron Man v2 #25) A companion unit for the Detroit Steel armor were the '''Wingman Drones''' developed by Hammer Industries as a way to offer Detroit Steel air support. (Invincible Iron Man v2 #29) The Detroit Steel app was developed by Hammer Industries so to have real people control their drones while making them believe they were simply playing a video game. For this run, the app was only used to fly the drones around and crash them into targets placed in a desert to test accuracy. This program presented itself as a simple real-time strategy video game with the premise that its user controlled a Wingman Drone to help Detroit Steel in his missions. The players had the objective to eliminate whichever targets were displayed on the screen. The app used the accelerometer of the user's device for the controls. The player controlled the drone's targeting by moving a reticle around the screen. Once the target reticle lighted up, tapping the screen enabled to open fire. Ammo levels and gun heat levels were displayed in the status at the bottom of the screen. (Invincible Iron Man v2 #29) For the most part, this was the case. Out of the app's concurrent players, a fraction was used to control whichever amount of Wingman Drones Hammer Industries wanted to deploy. These players selected randomly received real-time streaming battlefield data and became Detroit Steel's air support in real life. If any of the users got knocked offline, another random user would connect. The process was totally anonymous and untraceable.
