'''Diane Maza''' was the mother of [[Elisa Maza|Elisa]], [[Talon (Gargoyles)|Derek]] and [[Maza, Beth|Beth Maza]] and wife of [[Maza, Peter|Peter Maza]]. A native of New York City and a supportive mother, Diane stood by Elisa when she was shot and Derek when he was transformed into a [[Mutates (Gargoyles)|mutate]]. After Elisa disappeared on her [[Avalon (Gargoyles)|Avalon]] trip, Diane returned to Nigeria to trace her African roots. She integrated herself into a village, befriending village native [[Maku, Fara|Fara Maku]], and told stories of [[Anansi (Gargoyles)|Anansi]] the trickster. When Elisa and company were sent to Nigeria, Diane was introduced to the [[Gargoyles (Gargoyles)|gargoyles]] for the first time. She assisted them in their efforts to thwart poachers led by [[Tea]] and helped the Avalon travellers defeat the real Anansi within his city of [[Karadigi]].
