Ian Bellows was a farmer who lived on Petrie's Island. He was known for his vocal disapproval of the way the government from the mainland treated the islanders. While walking home late one evening to his farm near the mansion of Dr. Lawrence Phillips, Ian heard strange, electronic noises coming from a cave. He went inside to investigate and was attacked by something in the dark. His boneless body was found later by Constable John Harris, and it was eventually revealed he had been a victim of a silicate.
