Prof. Erikson.

Professor Gunter Erikson was a Norwegian scientist and a colleague of Dr. Benton Quest's. He was the inventor of anti-gravity, which he created in his laboratory in the remote Raklev Castle. Norwegian criminal Ivar sought to steal his work, hiring acrobat Dietrich Sorenson to pose as one of Raklev's gargoyle's to spy on the scientist and his assistant Gunnar. The Quests were able to stop Ivar and prevent his escape, though Ivar accidentally killed himself and his henchmen Emil and Sven when his gunfire caused an avalanche, burying them and their submarine.

Years later, an older Erikson invented Bifrost Effect, which could freeze large areas in a matter of seconds. He was abducted by the renegade military officer General Vostok and held prisoner aboard the Russian submarine Gagarin. Vostok planned to use the Bifrost Effect to force modern Russia to give in to his demands or he would blanket the world in a second ice age. When Dr. Quest used the Bifrost Effect to freeze the submarine's torpedoes around it just as Vostok fired them, preventing them from moving any further, the torpedoes exploding, killing Vostok and everyone aboard, including, unfortunately, Professor Erikson.
