Colonel Musgrove, along with Major Eaton, was one of two US Army Intelligence officers who approached Indiana Jones in 1936 about recovering the Ark of the Covenant. Although they promised him and Dr. Brody that the university would get the Ark upon its recovery, they reneged on their deal and instead locked it away in a warehouse at Area 51.
