Charles Conliffe was the father of Gwen Conliffe who owned an antique shop in Llanwelly. Although extremely protective of his daughter and determined to see marry Frank Andrews and even somewhat strict, Charles loved Gwen very much and came to her defense when Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Wykes and Mrs. Bally accused her of having an illicit affair with Larry Talbot, and of getting Mrs. Williams' daughter Jenny killed.
