Zara Young was the British personal assistant of Jurassic World park operations manager Claire Dearing. When Claire's nephews Zach and Gray Mitchell visited the island during Christmas of 2015, she was too busy to spend time with them and assigned Zara to watch them. Proving to be somewhat ill-equipped to watch two preteen boys, Zara spent most of her time on her cell phone talking to her friend about her upcoming wedding to a man named Alec.
While the three were at the Gentle Giants Petting Zoo, Zach talked Gray into ditching their caretaker so they could go to several attractions without her supervision. Zara didn't notice they were gone until it was too late, and she couldn't find them anywhere, unaware they'd taken a Gyrosphere out into the valley.
