Adam was the lead singer of a band called the Beasts of Mayhem. When the demonic ghost named Mayhem attacked the concert at which they were performing, Adam thought the creature was a special effect. That is until Mayhem flew down at him, picked him up, and threw him bodily through a wall of the band's amplifiers. He survived the incident.
