Bird, Inspector

Police inspector in the town of Iping. When Constable Jaffers claimed to have been confronted with an invisible assailant in the Lion's Head Inn, Bird immediately decided the entire thing was a hoax. He went personally to the Lion's Head and interviewed all of the patrons and townspeople who claimed to have encountered the unseen criminal. When none of them - including Jaffers - could produce a shred of evidence, Bird declared it all a hoax. He was quickly proven wrong when the Invisible Man, made his presence at the meeting known, first throwing a bottle of ink into the astonished inspector's face, then strangling him and finally killing him by bashing him over the head with a barstool.
