- Doctor Who (Expanded Universe): A wave of fascination with the apparently extinct Cybermen seizes the public in the mid-40th century. (Legacy)
- Planet of the Apes (Films): 3955. Events of Planet of the Apes and Beneath the Planet of the Apes. Earth is destroyed by the Alpha-Omega Bomb; only Cornelius, Zira and Milo escape, tossed back in time to 1973. (Escape from the Planet of the Apes. In Planet of the Apes, George Taylor's instruments state the year is 3978, but the year 3955 is used in Beneath and in Escape. Presumably, Taylor's instruments were damaged in the crash.)
