Morphois the leader of the Dark Disciples and a loyal servant of the Dark Dweller. He was once an ordinary alchemist who sought to control the Dark Dweller, who he regarded as the most powerful being on Mer, for his own evil ends, conducting numerous underwater expeditions in an effort to discover the Chamber of Lost Souls. But on one of these expeditions, the Dark Dweller took him over, but instead of killing Morpho he turned him into a half man, half fish creature, making him a creature of both worlds - the human world and the realm of Dark Water.

Under the Dark Dweller's orders, Morpho and the Dark Disciples set up shop in the ruins of Octopon to await the return of Ren, communicating with his master via a glass orb filled with Dark Water he wore around his neck. But when Ren placed the first seven of the Thirteen Treasures of Rule in Octopon's lighthouse, it destroyed the orb and turned all of Morpho's Dark Disciples back to normal again.

Morpho then joined forces with Bloth, giving him a special potion that would allow him to change bodies with Ren (after a soothsayer told Bloth that to find the Thirteen Treasures of Rule, he must "become" Ren), and this also let Konk change bodies with Niddler for good measure. However, Morpho's plans were foiled when Ren and Niddler, in Bloth and Konk's bodies, escaped from the Kravidorm (which, as Ren surmised, wasn't "Bloth-proof") and stole the antidote.
