Biography

Bêlit was a female human Shemite who lived during the Hyborian Age where she claimed that her fathers were kings of Asagalun that was a seaport in Shem. At some point, she came to be the captain of a band of pirates where they operated from the Tigress that prowled from the Southern Isles.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Bêlit was noted for being beautiful and slender with her being compared to a goddess who had a lithe along with voluptuous figure. It was noted that she had rich black hair that was as black as a Stygian night and fell in rippling burnished clusters down her supple back. She was self-styled as the Queen of the Black Coast and had a fearsome reputation.

Her crew were said to revere her and considered her to be a goddess.

After encountering Conan, she came to be romantically involved with the barbarian with her being considered one of the great loves of his life.

Powers and abilities

She had the unswerving loyalty of a crew of pirates where she captained a ship called the Tigress.

  • Bêlit was created by Robert E. Howard where she first appeared in Weird Tales v1 23 5 "Queen of the Black Coast" (May, 1934).
