Chaos theory is a field of study that focuses on how large, difficult-to-predict systems (such as weather) are vulnerable to tiny changes. The classic example is that of a butterfly flapping its wings in one part of the world, creating a movement of air and particles that can eventually influence a hurricane elsewhere.
