Biography
Judas Traveller
The unhealthy obsession with his work resulted in a complete severe nervous breakdown resulting in him going into seclusion from the public. (Osborne Journals v1 #1)
Norman Osborn used the Cult of Scrier to form a relationship with Traveller by proxy. A Scrier approached Traveller where he became Judas's confidante and advisor where he played into the man's deluded fantasies. Through Scrier, Osborn directed Traveller's interests to intersect with Spider-Man for his own purposes. (Osborne Journals v1 #1)
Fascinated with the nature of evil, Traveller visited various villains at the Ravencroft Institute. Learning of their hatred towards Spider-Man, he used his powers to take control of the institute and draw in Spider-Man. Then he posed an ethical dilemma to Parker: If Spider-Man failed, all the inmates would be killed. However, if Traveller was defeated, they were to be set free. (Web of Spider-Man v1 #117)
Reilly and Parker were able to defeat the released villains, but Traveller escaped. (Spectacular Spider-Man v1 #217)
Traveller captured Spider-Man and Kaine, subjecting Parker to a trial with the prisoners of Ravencroft as jury and Carnage as prosecutor. John Jameson and Doctor Kafka were appointed, but never get a chance to speak. He was unmasked and found guilty, but Traveller stopped the group when Kaine defended Parker. He also removed the villains' knowledge that Spider-Man is Parker. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #403)

- Judas Traveller was created by Terry Kavanagh and Steven Butler where he made his first appearance in Web of Spider-Man v1 #117 (October, 1994).
- Writer Glenn Greenberg commented on the character, "the only thing I can really add is that no one -- not the writers, not the editors -- seemed to know who or what the hell Judas Traveller was. He was seemingly this immensely powerful, quasi-mystical being with amazing abilities, but what was the real deal with him? ... But to be honest, a character like Traveller didn't really fit into Spider-Man's world."
