History
The All-Mother was formed in the aftermath of Odin's departure and exile from the Asgardians ranks. As a result, it was decided that a new governing body was needed to watch over the newly formed Asgardia. This land consisted of all the dispart races now living with the Asgardians and thus a trinity was established that consisted of Freyja, Gaea and Idunn with the task of managing this land. Each member of the trinity was chosen to represent different aspects.
The All-Mother later asked Heimdall to peer into the future and discern the fate of Asgardia. He later warned the All-Mother that he sensed assassins that would come to destroy them but was unable to discern the culprits. In reality, Tanarus who was shielded from Heimdall's vision was involved and left him unconscious. The masked Troll intended to stand with the All-Mother when she called her Congress of Worlds that consisted of representatives from all the Nine Realms. Tanarus intended to slay the All-Mother during this event and allow the Trolls to invade Asgardia. (The Mighty Thor #10)

- The term All-Mother seems to be a play on Odin's role as the All-Father.
- In an interview, Writer Matt Fraction said Asgardia will be ruled by the All-Mother and it’s not just a home for the Gods. Editor Lauren Sankovitch stated “With the people of the Nine Realms only just familiarizing themselves with the new rule of the All-Mother, Asgardia is tangible proof that their new leaders can put their mythological money where their mouths are. Having a rebuilt Asgard is a powerful symbol to the world that the All-Mother are a force to be reckoned with and one that looks out for its own.”
