Auto-Aviator
Created by inventor and business entrepreneur Professor Martin Torque, the Auto-Aviator was a robot designed to replace flesh-and-blood pilots. After testing the first Auto-Aviator out using the Sea Duck, Torque signed a deal with Khan Industries to mass-produce the robots. Unlike regular pilots, the Auto-Aviator never gets tired and never deviates from a pre-set flight plan.
It was this last trait that ended up revealing that the Auto-Aviator was not as perfect as Torque liked to let on, when its refusal to deviate from its course while flying Shere Khan's private plane almost resulted in the deaths of both Khan and Torque during an attack by Sky Pirates. Following this, a dejected Torque re-programmed all the Auto-Aviators to be "Mechano-Maids," selling them in Thembria.
The Auto-Aviator/Mechano-Maid has a small built-in speaker which enables the robot to acknowledge spoken commands (when it choses to, that is). Incapable of any true artificial intelligence, the Auto-Aviator tends to repeat the last few words spoken to it (making for some amusing "conversations").
