Biography
Mainframe was an artificial intelligence that was created by Tony Stark when he decided to retire from being the hero Iron Man. However, Stark did not want to let his legacy end with him so he created an android that was patterned after the Iron Man armor who became the robotic warrior called Mainframe. Once brought online, the android assembled the Avengers to save a young boy called Kevin from trolls. When the fight was over, Mainframe along with Stinger, J2 and Kevin formed the A-Next which was a new team of Avengers.
Once this was done, Mainframe attempted to establish himself as the leader of the team though he encountered resistance from Stinger who was now aware of Mainframe being a machine. When Mainframe was terminally damaged which exposed his secret, Stinger was the frst who volunteered to shrink inside him to repair him. However, they later learnt that when badly damaged, Mainframe was capable of uploading his personality as well as memories into a new replacement body that wasa assembled in an orbiting satellite.
Mainframe continued his adventures as part of the team where he became more then a high-tech hero but became a friend as well to his team mates. He even learned to share his responsibilities and duties with his friend American Dream.

Mainframe possessed a robotic body that shared appearances with that of Iron Man's suits which gave him superhuman strength as well as jet boosters allowing him to fly. In addition to this, he was equipped with a high-tech sensory array as well as various energy weapons which included lasers, magnetic beams, electric blasts as well as similar such weapons. To complement this weapon's array was a projectile weapon system such as grenades and missiles.
The machines most valuable item was a locator beacon that was small enough to go unnoticed inside the body. When the body was badly damaged to the point where it was beyond repair or was destroyed then Mainframe flew to the nearest Stark Enterprise's satellite where he uploaded his consciousness into one fo the replacement bodies stored there. However, its unknown what will happen now that the satellite was destroyed.

- In Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., Mainframe appeared in the episode "Wheels of Fury" where he was voiced by actor Jeffrey Combs. He was shown as being a gaming artificial intelligence developed by Tony Stark in order to play a series of war games. During their game play, Stark cheated in order to win causing the AI to take control of the machines in the Stark Industries facility turning them against their creator. When the Hulks arrived, they destroyed the machines that included a number of Iron Man Armors that Mainframe took control of but Iron Man along with She-Hulk disconnected Mainframe from the main computer. However, the AI had used Stark's deep space transmitters to call a Mekkan ship from another galaxy where it merged with Mainframe. He intended to continue the war games by targeting New York City and forcing Stark to defend it. This was until She-Hulk convinced the machine to participate in roller derby with the AI creating machine players and a course to fight. During this time, Mainframe was said to had evolved the capacity to cheat and attempted to win only to lose the S.M.A.S.H. Though defeated, the Hulks and Stark taught the AI that losing was not bad and was an opportunity to learn. This caused Mainframe to leave amicably with the heroes as he decided to explore the world and changed his robotic body to resemble Iron Man Armor.
