Biography

Master Vile

The father of Rita Repulsa and Rito Revolto, Master Vile arrived on the moon in search of the legendary Zeo Crystal. Lord Zedd mocked Vile, however, since the Zeo Crystal, kept hidden in the Caves of Deception underneath the Palace, was protected by a forcefield who would destroy anyone who possessed even an ounce of evil. Vile knew of this, of course, and created the Blue Globbor. Vile planned for Globbor to drain Ninjor of his powers, then use those powers to kidnap the Rangers, who he would then force to fetch the Zeo Crystal for him. Tommy, however, managed to steal the Zeo Crystal while the others battled Globbor on Earth. Unfortunately, Vile captured all of the Zords as well as the Crystal, and teleported them to his homeplanet in the M51 Galaxy. Invading the Youth Center, Vile threw a End Of The World Party, and he began to remotely use the Zeo Crystal's power to destroy Angel Grove. The Rangers teleported to their Zords and managed to break Vile's link to the Crystal, returning to Earth to battle Globbor. Vile soon grew to giant size to assist his creation, but was assaulted by the finishing attacks of both the Shogun and Ninja MegaFalconZords. Amazingly, he survived, and retreated back to the moon. He considered this failure to be nothing but a minor setback, and declared that he was here to stay.

Vile later sent his old ally Dischordia to battle the Rangers, and she nearly succeeded in taking control of the Rangers' minds. Vile was foiled once again, however, as Dischordia met her end courtesy of the Shogun UltraZord. Vile then summoned the Orb of Doom to the Earth, which he used to revert the Rangers to powerless children. When Zedd, Rita, Goldar, and Rito grew and began to attack Angel Grove, he shrunk them back to normal size, revealing that he had more plans for the Earth. Summoning an army of monsters to the Palace, he then sent the best of the lot to Earth, led by his field general, Professor Longnose. When the invasion was defeated by the Aquitian Rangers, Vile threw a tantrum and fled back to the M51 Galaxy, where he said evil always wins. When the Machine Empire arrived on the moon, Rita called Vile and begged him to let them stay with him. Reluctantly, Vile agreed, despite the fact that Rita would be bringing "that husband of hers."

However, Master Vile prevents Lord Zedd, Rita, Goldar, and Rito from destroying Angel Grove as he has more plans for the Earth. He sends a selection of monsters to invade the planet led by his field general Professor Longnose with the goal of conquering and destroying it. When the invasion is defeated by the Aquitian Rangers, Vile flees back to his galaxy in disgrace.

When the Machine Empire arrived on the moon, Rita calls her father and begs him to let them stay with him. Vile agrees despite the fact that Rita will be bringing Lord Zedd while also mentioning that the Machine Empire is worse than him by destroying everything in sight. Master Vile states that he will leave a skeleton key under the mat and tells them not to wake him when they arrive.

Overview

Personality and attributes

True to his name, Master Vile embodied sheer wickedness as he was ruthless as well as being a power-hungry tyrant bent on galactic conquest. Although he had a brief stint in the series, Master Vile had proved to be a master strategist and a dangerous adversary for the Rangers as his tactics involved enhancing the Tenga Warriors into more aggressive and efficient fighters, succeeding in capturing the Zeo Crystals along with the Rangers' Zords, and using the Orb of Doom to revert the Rangers back into children. Despite whatever tactical brilliance he has expressed, he is still highly impatient, and like his daughter, he is capable of throwing child-like tantrums when his plans do not go his way as seen when the Alien Rangers defeated his forces. It is this lack of patience that enabled him to retreat back to his conquered Galaxy.

Although he had genuine care for his children, Master Vile had his disdain for Rita's husband, Lord Zedd, and the latter shared his own resentment for the former, which placed them at odds with one another. Regardless, their hostilities were more than once cast aside when attempting to defeat the Rangers and conquer the earth, as well as assisting with Rita and Zedd's escape from the attacking Machine Empire.

Despite his brand of darkness and the successes that came with it, Master Vile openly stated that his evil ways pale in comparison to King Mondo and Queen Machina, noting how the two invoke even greater destruction than himself. Given that he has taken part in the celebratory meeting with the United Alliance of Evil and the festivities for Zordon's capture, it is more than likely that like all other villains (including his daughter and son-in-law), Master Vile may have feared the alliance leader Dark Specter.

Powers and abilities

He had the ability to spit out an egg from his mouth to create monsters as seen when he created the Blue Globbor.

Vile could summon red and blue snakes from under him to teleport to any location he wishes.

Master Vile could make himself grow at will without the aid of Rita and Zedd as seen when he grew himself after the escape of Ninjor.

Comic Books

  • In Power Rangers Unlimited: Edge of Darkness v1 (2021), Master Vile appeared in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic series published by Boom! Studios. Master Vile was once a human named Eldin, a researcher who studied artifacts left behind by the Morphin Masters with his future wife Lady Fienna. One such artifact allowed them to peer into the future, while Lady Fienna saw her yet to be born daughter as the Mystic Mother, Eldin saw a twisted vision of his child as a dark witch and an evil voice called to him. The voice was Dark Specter, who slowly corrupted Eldin’s mind and the researcher became obsessed with bringing the evil extra dimensional being into his universe, which was to sacrifice his child in a dark ritual to the evil being in order to be a vessel for it to inhabit to survive. Dark Specter’s power then transformed Eldin into Master Vile to better serve him. Thousands of years ago, Master Vile conquered and then ruled over the M51 Galaxy. At some point, Lady Fienna eventually became pregnant. During her pregnancy, she discovered how evil her husband really was and decided to run away from him. She eventually gave birth to the baby who would grow up into Rita Repulsa and raised her alone for several years while Vile searched for them. Despite their best efforts, he eventually discovered them and sent his Tenga Warriors after them. Though the Phantom Ranger intervened, Master Vile eventually handled the matter personally, killing his wife and taking his child. He however sensed Rita was “tainted” by a massive infusion of Grid energy and thus could not be used in the ritual as Grid energy is poisonous to Dark Specter. Master Vile decided he could still use his child and then raised Rita to be as evil as himself before she left him at some point to join the Evil Space Aliens.
