Simon Katanga

Simon Katanga was the captain of the pirate ship the Bantu Wind. A close friend of Sallah, in 1936 Katanga was chartered to transport Indiana Jones, Marion Ravenwood and the Ark of the Covenant from Egypt to the US. When a Nazi U-boat intercepted them, Katanga covered for Jones and hid him, and tried to persuade Colonel Dietrich that Marion was a slave-girl. It didn't work, and Dietrich (calling Katanga a "savage") took Marion with him when he and Renee Belloq absconded with the Ark.
