Sonic the Hedgehog is a animal character who features in Sonic the Hedgehog.

Biography

Origin

Sonic was native of the planet Mobius where he was born on Christmas Island.

He came to abandon his home at an early age to persue danger and adventures

Chief nemesis of the evil Doctor Robotnik and his evil plans for the planet. His best friend and sidekick is Miles Prower, nicknamed Tails. Sonic's main gift is his natural super speed, and he can move at speeds approaching that of light. He has an attack technique known as the Super Sonic Spin, wherein he becomes like a buzzsaw and can cut through steel. He can also transform into Super Sonic when he acquires all seven Chaos Emeralds, and into Hyper Sonic when he acquires the seven Super Emeralds on top of that.

Sonic has an Uncle Chuck, who along with his parents was roboticized by Robotnik. He is a member of the Freedom Fighters who oppose the evil scientist-dictator, and is in love with Princess Sally Acorn.

Sonic Underground

Sonic has two siblings, Sonia (his sister) and Manik (his brother). Sonia is a pink hedgehog, who wears a purple dress. The three are the children of Queen Aleena Hedgehog, who was the original queen of Mobius before Princess Sally's family ruled Mobius. They are chased by Doctor Robotnik and his bumbling bounty hunter sidekicks Sleet and Dingo. The reason that he is chasing the three is because of a prophecy made by the Oracle of Delphius that the Queen's three children will one day find their mother and together destroy Robotnik's reign and become the rulers again.

The three siblings have magical amulets that not only change into musical instrements but change into weapons when the triplets are in perfect harmony with each other. Sonic's amulet is an electric guitar/gun. The three use the amulets not only to fight Robotnik's forces but to also have instruments for their underground rock and roll band Sonic Underground.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Sonic was a slim anthropomorphic male hedgehog with blue fur that covers most of his body, and peach skin that covers his arms, muzzle, insides of his ears and front torso. He has small, triangular ears on top of his head, six long quills on the back of his head, two spines protruding from his back behind his shoulders, and a short tail.

He said he never looked back in life and had no regrets. He reasoned that this was cause time did not wait for him with him instead choosing to go his own way.

Born to run and loving to cover as much ground as possible, Sonic enjoys nothing more than adventure and traveling around the world. This is because he believes life should be exciting. In fact, the ways of his heart are much like the Sun; the hedgehog runs and rests, while the Sun rises and sets. The hedgehog also loves interacting with the many cultures present on the planet, and enjoys tasting the regional dishes, specially chili dogs; because of this, he likes to call himself a connoisseur. Endowed with a strong passion for enjoying life, he is never in one place for long and always moves forward to look for his next challenge, viewing his life as a never-ending series of adventures. Because of his need for freedom, the hedgehog loathes the idea of being constrained;[63] being cooped up or being forced to stay in one place tends to make him very uneasy and restless.

Powers and abilities

It had also been noted that Sonic was steadily growing stronger.

His greatest strength was his super speed where he had been credited as the fastest thing alive and even the fastest being in the universe. He had the ability to instantly accelerate to the speed of sound and run at speeds that exceeded Mach 1.

Due to such speed, he could scale vertical surfaces and ceilings, run over water, outspeed lasers, and even cause the ground to explode and lift off in his wake.

By revving up in one place, he can take off at turbo speeds in an instant. He can also envelope himself in a blue energy field that lets him accelerate beyond the sound barrier on both the ground and in midair for a short time.

Sonic's core offensive maneuver was the Spin Attack, a technique where he curls into a concussive ball or cutting disk and directs himself at his targets. With it, Sonic can shred or burrow through just about any substance given enough speed and hit with enough force to pierce colossal boulders.

By harnessing the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds, Sonic can enter a Super State, transforming him into Super Sonic. Easily his most used transformation, Super Sonic was one of Sonic's strongest forms. In this state, all of Sonic's abilities far surpass his normal ones. Super Sonic is easily one of the most powerful beings in the Sonic series, having defeated titanic robots, fearsome monsters, forces of nature, other Super State users, powerful deities, and spacetime destructors. Due to being infused with the seven Chaos Emeralds' power, Super Sonic accordingly commands infinite power and has access to unlimited energy. As Super Sonic, Sonic's innate abilities far surpass his normal ones.

Although well-versed in his own super speed, Sonic has trouble building up his speed in unfavorable environments, like in deep snows where it is hard to get traction or inside small rooms. Additionally, Sonic's stamina is not unlimited; if pushed to run often for several days on end with little to no sleep, Sonic's stamina can reach its limits, causing him to feel actual fatigue and exhaustion.

• In one early version of his origin published as a comic insert by Sega, Sonic gained his speed through pushing himself to the limit under the tutelage of one Dr. Kintobor (later to become Robotnik).

• In Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic appeared in the setting of the 2020 live-action action-adventure comedy film where he was voiced by actor Ben Schwartz. Sonic was born with his extraordinary powers on a distant planet. During his early childhood on his home planet, he would live on an island where he was looked after by his caretaker, Longclaw. As a child, Sonic spent most of his time running around the island despite Longclaw warning him not to reveal his powers. One day, when Sonic returned to Longclaw from a run across the island to give her a flower, they were attacked by a tribe of echidnas seeking Sonic's power. As Longclaw escaped with Sonic however, she got hit by an arrow, thus keeping her from flying. As such, she resorted to her Rings. Using one, she opened a portal to Earth for Sonic to escape through. Despite Sonic's reluctance to go without Longclaw, he received her bag of Rings nonetheless and was instructed to stay in hiding on Earth no matter what. After Sonic went through the portal however, he saw Longclaw bidding him farewell before making a stand against the echidna tribe to keep them from crossing the portal in pursuit of him. Sonic tried to come back for her, but the Ring closed right before he could get through.
