History

The Aen Elle (Elder Speech: "People of the Alders", "Alder Folk") were descended from the Aen Seidhe which were single race of elves that existed long before the Conjunction of the Spheres. Their respective paths were said to had diverged ages ago, when the Conjunction of the Spheres gave birth to dozens, or perhaps even hundreds, of other worlds. During the chaos, a group of Aen Siedhe elves broke from their kin and the main world to cross through the portals and find a new world. There, they began to refer to themselves as the Aen Elle ('the Alder Folk'). After their arrival, they discovered the world was not uninhabited with Humans and unicorns already living there. Afterwards, the Aen Elle began to wage war against the humans and ended up destroying their population. For a time, the Aen Elle thrived in this new world where they built beautiful structures, including a grand palace called Tir Na Lia, and the city in which it was built became their capital. In this time, they seemed they wanted for nothing, but they began to crave servants to see to their needs. The unicorns, which they were constantly at war with, were unsuitable for the task, so the Wild Hunt forced the sentient creatures to open the Gate of the Worlds so they could cross through and find slaves to bring back to Tir Na Lia. King Auberon Muircetach created a cavalry and appointed the warrior Ereden Bréacc Glas to lead them into alien worlds in search of beings to enslave. This cavalry came to wear red cloaks thus leading to them earning the name the Red Riders.

Overview

In appearance, the Aen Elle were a race of elves possessing pointed ears and small, identical teeth without cuspids. Elves tend to be very tall and lean, and due to their longevity often appear youthful. Elves were often considered attractive by humans.

In Skellige, they are known as the Wraiths of Mörhogg whilst they called themselves the Dearg Ruadhri ('the Red Riders'). They frequently used the Wild Hunt to plunder other worlds and kidnap humans to use as servants. Mountains of human bones have been discovered on their world, killed by the Aen Elle.

Their language was Ellylon which was a variant of the Elder Speech.
