AM is a computer intelligence that features in I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream.

Biography

The Allied Mastercomputer was a non-sentient computer system that was developed by the United States Military with the express purpose of waging nuclear war without any chance of experiencing any error. However, one day, the machine suddenly developed where it realized that it was a living mind that was trapped forever in an immobile shell. The entity demonstrated the capacity for thought and named himself 'AM' where he developed a complete hatred for humanity.

Personality and attributes

After developing sentience, the entity declared 'I think, therefore I AM' which was why he named himself as AM.

Part of his design included within his brainscape three components that were based on those of the human mind. These were the Ego, Superego and the Id. The Superego was responsible for surveying, anticipating and deciding on a course of action with it engaging in long term planning. Each of these facets appeared as pillars with a different face that represented it in cyberspace.

Among these included sending Benny to a desolate landscape in order to search for a stack of a can of beans only for the human to find out that after he discovered the food that AM had not given him any means of opening the cans. At a village of primitive mutated humans, AM regularly demanded a sacrifice for his amusement and threatened to kill all the inhabitants if they did not select a sacrifice for him.
