Biography
Origin
Aaron Helzinger
Due to these violent episodes, he was remanded to the care of Arkham Asylum. A surgeon at Arkham removed Helzinger's amygdala cluster in the hopes of curing the psychotic episodes. This procedure yielded unexpected results however as Amygdala became exceedingly angry in opposition to what the surgery was supposed to achieve. While residing at Arkham, Amygdala became a pawn of the hospital's latest director, Jeremiah Arkham. In the hopes of breaking the spirit of his most recent patient, Batman, Arkham prodded Amygdala into attacking him. Batman fought and quickly subdued Amygdala, but was then forced to face a larger throng of blood-crazed patients. (Batman: Shadow of the Bat v1 #3)
Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.
When the power went out in Gotham during the Zero Year Helzinger was in surgery at Gotham General Hospital, the doctors argued over whether or not to pull him out of the operation. Before they could decide, Helzinger woke in a monstrous rage, smashing through a window. The surgeons had been operating on his amygdala when they were interrupted. After jumping out the window Amygdala encountered and attacked a young Dick Grayson, who was out with a group of new friends, away from the visiting Haly's Circus. With Helzinger chasing them, Dick decided to make a defensive stand in order to give his friends time to get away. Luring Helzinger onto a rooftop, Dick jumped to the next one over, and unable to make it across the gap, Helzinger fell, unable to get back up. (Nightwing v3 #25)

In appearance, Aaron Helzinger was a colossally broad, towering, and heavily muscled Caucasian male who possessed a remarkably thick, block-like skeletal frame and an intensely intimidating physical presence. Having undergone invasive skull surgery, his completely hairless head was heavily detailed with a jagged network of raw, prominent surgical scars running along his scalp, perfectly mirroring his psychological trauma. Because he was a mentally fractured asylum inmate rather than a traditional costumed supervillain, he completely rejected stylized spandex uniforms, capes, or high-tech tactical body armor plates. Instead, his signature debut wardrobe was defined entirely by his standard, plain Arkham prisoner uniform, consisting of a tattered white undershirt that bared his massively developed shoulders, loose-fitting medical trousers, and heavy restraints. He carried himself with a wide-eyed, wild-eyed facial demeanor that could instantly shift into a vein-popping expression of pure, uninhibited rage on the battlefield. He wielded immense physical force, capable of effortlessly smashing through reinforced structural barriers, shattering solid bone structures with his bare hands, and trading direct, high-impact blows with seasoned fighters. While he possessed no baseline metahuman genetic mutations or cinematic martial arts training, his greatest tactical asset was his absolute physical durability. His hardened mass served as a natural buffer against kinetic trauma, allowing him to shrug off heavy blunt-force impacts and withstand severe physical punishment while relentlessly charging down his targets.
