The Annihilator 117 was a bio-weapon that featured in DC Comics Darkstar.

Background

The Annihilator 117, an English translated name for the creature, was a bio-weapon created by a group of scientists on a planet whose only purpose was creating new weapons for war. They discovered a parasite that, when grafted onto a host, was capable of augmenting the body on a physical level in order to be used in combat. The Syndicate purchased a single Annihilator 117 unit and grafted it onto one of the Darkstar's former deputies in order to use him against the hero.

The creature varied depending on the host but were typically humanoid in shape. The parasite worked constantly augmenting the body which became slowly more monstrous in appearance. The skin changed into a gray or greenish skin tone and was covered in scales while spikes protruded from the upper part of the arm. The eyes of the host body changed from their normal colour into a deep red that covered the entire eye. This level of genetic engineering was complimented by mental indoctrination to make the bio-weapon loyal to its employers though it was capable of breaking this programming.

The Annihilator 117 was a violent organism whose aggression was channeled into destroying everything and anything in its path. The body was capable of absorbing inorganic molecules and coating them to its body to form a crystalline substance that protected it from harm; even from energy weapons. The organism was capable of absorbing the necessary molecules from the air itself for the task.

Due to the heavy level of bio-engineering involved in the task, the creators of the bio-weapon claimed that those who were transformed could never return to their former lives.
