History

The Apocalypse Virus

The origin of the Apocalypse Virus began in 2022 when a mysterious meteorite carrying an extraterrestrial crystalline substance struck the island of Oshima. A young girl named Mana Ouma discovered the impact site and became the first human to interact with the alien material, inadvertently serving as the primary host and the "Eve" of the coming plague. Upon contact, the virus began to rewrite her genetic structure, manifesting as a shimmering, purple crystalline growth that could resonate with the human psyche. This infection granted Mana the terrifying ability to manipulate the biological essence of others, effectively turning the virus into a bridge between physical form and the human soul. As the virus established its foothold within her, it remained a localized anomaly for several years, hidden from the public eye while it matured within its first host. This silent period of incubation set the stage for the scientific discovery of the virus's true nature, as the crystalline structure began to demonstrate its capacity for both total biological destruction and a forced, world-altering evolution. Scientific inquiry into the crystalline anomaly accelerated as researchers Kurosu Ouma and Shuichiro Keido spearheaded a specialized study into the virus's unique genetic resonance. They discovered that the infection did not merely destroy tissue but acted as a biological bridge capable of manifesting "Voids," which were physical objects derived from a person's personality and heart. While Kurosu sought a way to coexist with or suppress the virus to protect humanity, Keido became obsessed with the virus as a tool for a "forced evolution" that would purge the weak and elevate the chosen. This ideological rift fractured their partnership, leading Keido to grow increasingly resentful of Kurosu’s moral hesitations and his close bond with the primary host, Mana. As their research reached its zenith, the virus's instability within Mana began to spiral out of control, fueled by her deteriorating mental state and Keido's clandestine manipulations. These internal tensions and the dangerous maturation of the virus eventually culminated in the catastrophic event known as Lost Christmas in 2029, where the infection finally breached the confines of the laboratory and devastated Tokyo.
