History
The Archangel Corps was an organization established following the Extermination War perpetrated by the Angels which decimated humanity. It was only Michael who was among their kind that sided with mankind where he helped in their defense. Among his acts was the establishment of the elite military force known as the Archangel Corps in the city of Vega. (Website)
They were assembled when Senator Frost initiated a lockdown trapping General Edward Riesen and Consul David Whele with him in the hydroponic gardens where he threatened to flood the area which would have destroyed the crops. As a result, the Corps had a stand off with Frost who demanded to see the Chosen One. (Episode: The Flood)
Overview
This special forces unit were authorized and trained in the of military style light weapons along with specialized tactics in high risk operations that fell outside of the capabilities of the regular uniformed police. (Website)
Initiation into the ranks of the Archangel Corps was made by invitation that was made personally by the Archangel Michael himself. Upon entry, initiates underwent rigorous training that involved boasts of a 97% discharge rate. Those select few that complete the training and earned their wings became revered figures both among the military and civilian populace that considered them the best of the best. (Website)
Among their duties included confronting heavily armed criminals, performing hostage rescue, high risk arrests, riot control, VIP protection details, along with entering armored or barricaded buildings.
