The Ark was a massive, multi-level wooden vessel built by Noah at the command of God, who bade him take his family, seven male-female pairs of each clean animal, and two male-female pairs of each unclean animal onboard. The Ark endured through the great deluge sent down by God for forty days and forty nights, ensuring that life on Earth could continue with a clean start.
